About Foodhisattva

Foodhisattva (pronounced food-duh-suht-vuh) is a portmanteau of food and the Buddhist term bodhisattva. We started as a series of vegan pop-up restaurants on Cleveland’s east side in 2014 and opened our award-winning café in 2019 in the Cedar-Taylor district of Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

As a locally owned small business, we specialize in scratch-made, cruelty-free cuisine that is both delicious and affordable. Our goal is to reduce suffering by creating food that anyone—regardless of dietary preference—can enjoy. By challenging outdated perceptions of vegan cuisine, we strive to make plant-based food accessible and appealing to a wider audience. We’re proud to serve our community and look forward to feeding our neighbors for years to come.
