Sweet & Sour Seitan
Our Sweet & Sour Stir-fry has had many makeovers over the years, but we think this one—Sweet & Sour Seitan—is the best yet.
I was working on a “hammy” sandwich, but supply issues derailed that plan. Since I’d already created a pork-like seitan, I figured, why not toss it into one of our classic stir-fries? Light, crispy breading, that sweet-and-tangy sauce we all love—boom, new favorite.
I went vegan in the early noughts, and my first kitchen experiments were recreating Chinese takeout favorites. That’s what we lived on back then—well, that and hummus. (Took me years to enjoy hummus again…) Just a kid loading up on veggies, trying to match the magic of my go-to spots. Decades later, those recipes still slap (if we’re still saying "slap").
To slap or not to slap, that is for you to decide. For tis not a matter of a noble mind. Okay, it is when it comes to your choice to eat ethically, but I digress. I intend only to note that taste is subjective, and some still haven't any. It's a strange culinary affair, but tis.
